Invitation hell

I'm having an invitation crisis as a result of my poor time management skills, and many of the print shops and design studios I've called in the last few days need a 6-8 week turnaround. My bad. My wedding is on May 29th, and my mom really wanted to get those invites out two months in advance. It's not going to happen.
Anyway, I need to decide, like yesterday, what to do. In addition to the time problem, is, of course, money.  We both agree that letterpress is cooler, and in most cases, more environmentally-friendly. My parents are insisting on paying for the invitations, but if we go with letterpress, we'll insist on chipping in, because they're effing expensive.
But now, any thoughts of custom work are out the window because of time, and I found some really pretty and simple digital invites that I like too...so I'm thinking, is letterpress even worth it at this point?
Ok, I'll stop rambling and show you what's in the running.

My current obsession is the Lucinda suite from Spark, but haven't I seen them before?

And let's not forget this ridiculously beautiful wood-grain pocketfold enclosure, which would considerably add to the price:
And then there are these beautiful digital cards by Vohandmade on Etsy. In case you hadn't noticed, we're going with a tree/nature theme, but I still wanted them to have a modern look. I like these, but I think they'd work better with some kind of cool pocketfold enclosure. I can mount the cards myself and tuck the RSVP card and map in a pocket. Problem is, I called Paper Source and Paper Presentation and they both don't have anything to fit a 5 x 7 card. %&#@!

What do you guys think?

  2. Do NOT make yourself nutso over this. Really. All your digital options are gorgeous and just do whatever's fastest and least expensive. (This is coming from the woman who wrote about her invitation epiphany last week, but from someone who's also a known procrastinator and lazy bum. So to me, pretty + less effort = done.) I love the designs you've picked out and, if digital gets them to you in two weeks, that's a priority right now. Also, no one will ever say "hmm, this would have been prettier in letterpress, wouldn't it?" They'll say "YAY! Weedding! Nice Invitation! We're coming! Let's put this on the fridge and then recycle it in a few weeks!"

  3. OMG! I sooo feel you! We've been set on printing our invites at home, because really, it's just something that gets thrown way. But now, I totally want letter pressing! Its all so overwhelming, so just take a deep breath, and know that whatever you choose will be lovely! Digital prints are rad... especially the price!!! Can't wait to see what you end up with!!!

  4. eff letterpress. us wedding-obsessed-bloggers are just about the only ones who notice that stuff.

the vohandmade ones are awesome. do you need to do a 5x7 sized rsvp? we did miniMINI cards with itty bitty envelopes.

  5. i love the letterpress ones. but i'm probably a little biased because i'm a printmaker too.

for the other invitations, i found some enclosures on paper source: (http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/color/linear-A7-enclosure/2505.040/805.html) but i'm not sure if that's what you are looking for. another option would be to see if the printers could take a 1/4 of an inch off the invitations so they fit into a standard 5x7 envelope.

    best of luck giovanna!

  6. I'm not going to lie: those wood grain pocket enclosure things are AWESOME and I would have a hard time not going with that whole package. Super cute. BUT, that being said, those digital ones are really nice, too. And if you are trying to save some money, they would be just as good as the letterpress option.

  7. These are lovely!!!!! My husband and I made are own, and luckily with a creative mind like mine, and his knack for details they turned out. I found this quote right before I started wedding planning and it was keep it simple, and fine. And, I can tell from your taste in invites that is just what you will be doing. I will have to send you something special!!! Much love! xo

  9. OK, having gone through all this already, some advice to take or leave:

    1. FORGET LETTERPRESS. It's gorgeous but it's expensive and it takes time. Not a priority. If you're insanely intent on it PRINT ICON in Chelsea is the cheapest option in NYC. Call them, ask for Hamid, make an appointment and GO. I designed my invitations and had them print them with a SUPER quick turnaround, but it cost me. I'm still in love with our invites but MAN was it an added stress and expense that no one else really cares about.

    2. CONSIDER INVITATIONS THAT YOU CAN CUSTOMIZE, DOWNLOAD AND PRINT ON YOUR OWN. There are some stellar options out there- I'm sure Martha has some ideas on her website.

    3. ETSY. There are some awesome, super-talented, original sellers on Etsy who will be grateful for the work and able to meet your quick-turn-around. I'd say this is your best bet, especially if you can find a local one.

    4. KEEP THE PRICE OF POSTAGE IN MIND with heavy or odd-sized envelopes.

    keep us updated!

  10. I asked my mom last week, if hypothetically I was preparing wedding invitations (which Im not) "what would you do? letterpress, really pretty and so expensive or normal printing and still very pretty?" she never doubted, pretty and cheaper!
Love the last ones, go for the ones that will give you less headaches especially now that the wedding is so close

  11. Hey these are all amazing, if it is cutting it too close you could always get the printable ones from target (skip their instructions and design them yourself, cheaper than buying nice card stock and envelopes)
    and thanks for your post/
the wooden slats totally work, that is how my bed is.
    no box spring.

  12. heres my opinion: letterpress is totally gorgeous but very expensive and like someone mentioned already no one notices touches like that but us :) i looove the woodgrain but get something you like at an amount you feel comfortable paying. your friends and family should just be psyched to be invited! i'm sure you'll pick something great. good luck!

  13. I love the first ones! So great.

I am kind of a freak and started working on our custom invitations back in June when our wedding wasn't til April. We sent them out on March 31st for our April 16th wedding. Hope you get them done quickly.
